Los Angeles, CA (August 24, 2017)—The Production Music Association (PMA) has announced the keynote speakers for its annual Production Music Conference (PMC), along with a reminder that the submission deadline for the third Annual Mark Awards is approaching.
This year marks the fourth annual Production Music Conference produced by the PMA, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary year. The event presents industry leaders from the production music industry joining forces for two days of panels, sessions, presentations and networking. This year’s PMC event will take place October 4-6, 2017 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Hollywood, CA.
Keynote speaker David M. Israelite, president and CEO of the National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA), a position he has held since February 2005, will address the conference on October 5 at 10:45 a.m. His tenure to date has produced landmark legal successes on behalf of publishers and groundbreaking industry collaboration in royalty rate agreements. Israelite has been named to Billboard’s Power 100 multiple times, and serves on several boards, including the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Special Olympics DC.
Composers Jeff and Mychael Danna will speak on October 6 at 2 p.m. The brothers most recently wrote the original score for the animated film Storks, which was released in theaters in September 2016, and for Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, directed by Ang Lee, which opened in November 2016. Upcoming projects include animated feature The Breadwinner and Alias Grace for Netflix.
The Mark Awards, named in honor of the late Andy Mark, a library owner and founding member of the PMA, recognizes excellence in production music in 27 categories. The deadline to submit for the third annual Mark Awards is Friday, August 25.
