New models in IB2S line aim to provide more power, detail and flexibility.

Biggleswade, UK (February 12, 2019)—PMC has updated its IB2S line of studio monitors with the release of two new models—IB2S-AII and twin cabinet IB2S XBD-AII reference monitors.

Intended mainly for use monitoring stereo and surround formats for reference and mastering applications, the IB2S-AII and IB2S XBD-AII each feature a pair of 3U rack mounted electronics per channel that contain DSP-controlled Class-D amplification delivering 2025 W for the single cabinet IB2S-AII and 3225 W for the IB2S XBD-AII twin cabinet version.

Epps Goes Worldwide

According to PMC, the increase in power over previous models is intended to lower distortion and provide greater bass definition, attack and extended headroom. Electronics are housed off-board and all control of the monitor can be made via the RJ45 connect table-top remote.

The three-way IB2S-AII master cabinet can be purchased as a speaker in its own right, or together with the single-driver XBD bass cabinet to form the IB2S XBD-AII system. Both systems feature PMC’s hand-built preparatory drivers—a 10-inch carbon-fibre/Nomex piston, a 75 mm fabric dome mid, and a 34 mm soft-dome tweeter in each cabinet. Both systems feature proprietary Advanced Transmission Line bass-loading technology.

Additionally, both systems also feature user-adjustable HF and LF shelving filters, ±8 dB input level trim, and an AES3 digital input. The input sensitivity of the balanced analog inputs can also be adjusted from +4 dB to +16 dB, all of which can be accessed via an RJ45 connected remote

The IB2S-AII and IB2S XBD-AII will ship in March, 2019.
