Modesto, CA (September 25, 2014)—Retro Instruments has announced the debut of the Retro OP-6 Portable Microphone Amplifier, a preamp for ribbon mics based off the RCA OP-6.

The vintage OP-6 unit’s feature set is somewhat limited when compared to modern standards, says the company. With each pairing to a microphone, an adjustment to the input transformer (inside the unit) is required to adapt it to the optimum impedance.

The unit adapts to several mic impedances (switchable via the front panel using a custom-wound input transformer), offers 48v for the mics that need phantom power (not an option on a vintage RCA OP-6), as well as having Mic and Instrument inputs.
