Hicksville, NY (September 27, 2017)—Samson has unveiled its new SM4 half-rack ($179.99), 4-channel line mixer for installation and commercial sound system applications. The SM4 features a balanced microphone channel with simple two-band EQ at 80 Hz and 12 kHz frequencies, voiceover priority ducking, stereo line level inputs as well as Bluetooth and Samson Stage XPD wireless compatibility.
The SM4 offers I/O including XLR for the microphone preamp, rear panel RCA inputs for the music channel, and front-mounted stereo quarter-inch and eighth-inch inputs for easily connecting mobile devices. Output is available via Stereo RCA and balanced XLR connectors. The aforementioned Bluetooth connectivity allows streaming music from a compatible device, while a USB port allows users to integrate a Samson Stage XPD Series wireless system, sold separately, as well as phone connectivity and charging capability.
Usefully, the Voiceover feature enables users to lower music (up to 30dB of ducking) while using a mic or the XPD Wireless port. The Voiceover Threshold knob allows adjustment of the the active ducking hold time from 0.5 to 3 seconds.
The SM4 is ready for a fixed install using the included rackmount kit. It can be mounted side by side with a Samson CR88, CR288 or CR99 wireless receiver. The mixer’s rear-mounted Master Volume control allows users to set the overall output level of the mixer, preventing the system from too much level and potentially destroying any connected speakers. It also features stereo XLR and RCA outputs, and a Mono/Stereo switch for use with a mono sound system.
