Madison, WI (July 18, 2012)—Sony Creative Software has released SpectraLayers, a spectral audio waveform editor.

SpectraLayers operates directly on a waveform spectra, allowing sound editors to edit by graphically dividing files into layers that can be processed independently and reintegrated to produce stronger audio files. Editors can reportedly remove unwanted noise and artifacts, separate music and dialogue into individual component layers and perform pitch correction. All tools are modifiable using a range of user-definable sensitivities and tolerances.

SpectraLayers is 32-bit 96 kHz capable and is available for both Mac and Windows platforms. It also provides file transfer to Sound Forge Pro and other audio editing programs.
