Steinberg, Rupert Neve Designs Unveil New Interfaces

Steinberg and Rupert Neve Designs collaborated to create two new USB audio interfaces.

Hamburg, Germany (April 12, 2018)—Steinberg Media Technologies has announced its new UR-RT2 and UR-RT4 USB audio interfaces, developed with Rupert Neve Designs. The interfaces will ship in June.

The UR-RT 24-bit/192 kHz USB 2.0 audio interfaces use transformers by Rupert Neve Designs, the circuitry of which was specifically developed for audio interfaces, aiming in part to provide a touch of natural compression and saturation.

The UR-RT2 comes with four inputs—two analog XLR/TRS combo inputs (Hi-Z switch on input 1 for electric guitar), plus two TRS line inputs, headphones jack with independent level control—and two outputs.

The UR-RT4 offers six inputs and four outputs—four analog XLR/TRS combo inputs (Mic/Hi-Z on input 1/2 and Mic/Line on input 3/4), plus two TRS line inputs, and a pair of separate headphone buses with individual outputs.

Both interfaces offer USB 2.0 and MIDI connectivity alongside a range of input/output options for laptop and iPad, as well as providing DSP-powered effects for monitoring—REV-X reverb, Channel Strip and Guitar Amp Classics (a VST 3 plug-in version also included).
