Tascam Goes iOS with iXR

The iXR features a solid aluminum chassis housing its two Tascam Ultra-HDDA preamplifiers with phantom power and 57 dB of gain, paired with Amphenol XLR/TRS mic/line or instrument level inputs; two balanced analog TRS output jacks (ideal for powered monitor connectivity); eighth-inch headphone output; separate controls for line and headphone output; zero-latency monitoring; MIDI I/O; up to 96 kHz 24-bit resolution; and more.

Tascam’s iXR USB Audio/MIDI interface with iOS connectivity is a full-featured mobile recording I/O device—“Made for iPad” yet Windows (ASIO/WDM) and Mac (Core Audio) ready.

The iXR features a solid aluminum chassis housing its two Tascam Ultra-HDDA preamplifiers with phantom power and 57 dB of gain, paired with Amphenol XLR/TRS mic/line or instrument level inputs; two balanced analog TRS output jacks (intended for powered monitor connectivity); and an eighth-inch headphone output.

There's also separate controls for line and headphone output; zero-latency monitoring; MIDI I/O; up to 96 kHz 24-bit resolution; and more. Whether by standard USB 2.0, iOS Lightning or 30-pin connectivity, iXR provides recording and monitoring capability in the project studio or in the field.

Though tested with Sonar, Pro Tools, Cubase, Ableton Live, Studio One and GarageBand DAWs, the iXR package is bundled with the Cubase LE DAW for Mac and Windows, as well as Cubasis LE for iOS, a tablet-based DAW for Apple devices. It is priced at $159.99 street.
