New York, NY (April 18, 2018)—First introduced in 1985, TC Electronic’s 2290 digital delay remains a cornerstone of many a FOH and studio rack. Now the company has announced a modern revival with the TC2290-DT, a hardware-controlled dynamic delay plug-in that will ship in June.
To recreate the sound of the original 2290, TC engineers spent more than a year taking apart and measuring four original units in order to cross-compare data and develop a summation of the 2290 sound, covering everything from crisp repeats, to complex delay rhythms and modulated soundscapes.
The plug-in will ship with a USB-powered tactile interface, intended to recall the feel of the original units. Meanwhile, the software is expected to provide custom-designed presets from various artists and recording engineers; DAW tempo, automation and project recall support; and more.
On the hardware controller will be high-resolution input and output meters for signal monitoring plus tone-defining parameters such as delay time, feedback level, modulation, mix settings and more.
The software will handle standard VST, Audio Units and AAX plug-in processing, and reportedly be compatible with all major DAWs. TC2290-DT provides
The hardware/plug-in combination will sell for $349.
