New York, NY (March 6, 2017)—Von Erickson Labs has found a way for its mics to get ahead of typical boutique mic offerings, and that’s to make a mic like a head—a skull, to be exact.
The Von Erickson Labs Skull Microphone is a dynamic vocal mic that recalls the classics of yesteryear (the Shure 55 comes to mind), but with a new, Gothic twist. The macabre mic comes in three styles—Bright Chrome, Dark Chrome and Satin Gun Metal.
While wiseacres might expect the company to ship a dead mic, Von Erickson Labs reports that the patented mic (with moving coil) has a frequency response of 60 to 17,000 Hz, a supercardioid polar pattern, a sensitivity of -53.0 dBV/Pa and is manufactured in the U.S.
The Skull Microphone costs $375 and is currently shipping.
