Liberty Hill, TX (July 27, 2017)—Warm Audio has shipped its new WA-14 large diaphragm brass capsule condenser microphone, intended for use on lead vocals, aggressive guitars and heavy percussion.
Sporting a design that pays homage to 1970s condenser microphones, the WA-14 utilizes fully discrete classic circuit topology—including the LK-12-B-60V, an all-brass CK-12-style capsule—and a custom CineMag USA transformer.
The LK12-B-60v is an all-brass, edge-terminated capsule with the backplate of the more modern CEK-12 variant as a basis. The o-ring and housing are all made from brass and the capsule diaphragm is 24k gold, sputtered and skinned using 6 micron, NOS Japanese PET film (mylar).
The mic offers a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz; an output pad denoted to 0 dB, -10 dB, -20dB; and cardioid, figure of eight and omnidirectional patterns. The WA-14 includes a shock mount and hard mount, and comes with a year’s warrantee.
