Yamaha to Release New TF Series Firmware at NAB

Yamaha readies update that will offer new features and control for users.

Buena Park, CA (March 29, 2019)—Yamaha’s new firmware update version 4.0 for its TF Series digital mixers will debut at the NAB Show and will reportedly add enhanced control and versatility to the intuitive touch-panel operation.

Firmware update V4.0 adds a Selected Channel View that provides access to the main parameters for the currently selected input channel in a single display. Combined with the mixer’s Touch & Turn Knob, this new view is intended to provide more intuitive operation, according to the company.

V4.0 also adds a scene fade time function that offers new flexibility for scene management, particularly in theatrical applications. Support for DZR-D and DXS-XLF-D Series speakers has been expanded with speaker amp mute control directly from the mixer display.

The Yamaha research and development team has worked with microphone and IEM manufacturers, as well as many sound engineers, to create a selection of new QuickPro Presets for a variety of microphones, in-ear monitors and speakers. The new presets not only include new microphone presets, but also add settings for in-ear monitors from Westone Laboratories, a producer of universal and custom-fit models.

The TF StageMix iPad app also gets an upgrade and allows control of playback from and recording to a USB storage device connected to the mixer. The TF StageMix update also adds User Defined Button functionality to the iPad for enhanced remote-control versatility.

“Yamaha TF Series V4.0 offers engineers improved compatibility with a growing range of applications and takes operability to a higher level with the new Selected Channel View display and the ever expanding, powerful range of new QuickPro Presets that provide easy, efficient operation for users of all levels,” states Nithin Cherian, marketing manager, MI Pro Audio, Yamaha Professional Audio division.
