Amsterdam, Netherlands (September 15, 2017)—At the 2017 IBC Show, Zaxcom has announced its expanded Digital Recording Wireless series with a unique handheld microphone that can operate as both a wireless transmitter and a hardwired microphone simultaneously.
The new ZMT3-HH is a “first-of-its-kind” handheld microphone featuring fully digital wireless transmission, hardwired balanced mic level analog audio, internal microSD recording with timecode, a programmable function button, battery life up to 14 hours, proprietary Zaxcom technology and more, “in an ergonomically tapered design built for performance and rock-solid durability,” explains company promotional materials.
“With the ZMT3-HH, we wanted develop a handheld microphone that delivers both wireless and hardwire audio transmission,” says Glenn Sanders, President of Zaxcom. “There’s nothing else like it out there and the ZMT3-HH provides users with more functionality and features without needing to purchase separate devices.”
Other ZMT3-HH features include a machined metal body and Zaxcom’s patented NeverClip digital wireless audio transmission technology, which extends the dynamic range of the microphone to 128dB, reportedly eliminating the need for a compressor that distorts the natural sound quality at high volume audio levels.
For hardwired connectivity, a balanced XLR output is located on the bottom of the microphone. If, for any reason, a wireless transmission is not possible due to radio frequency (RF) interference or lack of available channels, the XLR output immediately becomes the fallback, allowing the ZMT3-HH to be used in any situation.
The ZMT3-HH is compatible with Earthworks WL40V or any Shure 1.25-inch, 28 thread compatible mic capsule. Microphone capsules are sold separately.
Expected availability is November 2017.
