The Association of Independent Musicians (AIM) has announced the full speaker line-up for its next Women In Music evening taking place in January.
The 10th anniversary event, taking place on January 17 at City Hall, London, will celebrate the successes and examine the challenges of women in the music industry.
After a keynote artist interview with former Spice Girl Melanie C, a ‘Women in the Studio’ panel will see producers and engineers discuss the role of women in studio roles, and how they have built their careers in a notoriously male-dominated sector.
Speakers include producer and engineer Steph Marziano (Denai Moore, Mumford & Sons), Dr Mariana Lopez (lecturer in Sound Production and Post Production, University of York), engineer Isabel Gracefield Grundy (Emeli Sande, Tom Odell), mixer Marta Salogni (Bjork, Sampha), mastering engineer Kate Tavini, Women Produce Music founder Katia Isakoff panel chair producer K-Minor.
There will also be a keynote address entitled ‘Diversity is Good For You’ from UK Music Diversity Taskforce Co-Chair Paulette Long OBE (Westbury Music).
The final session of the evening will be ‘Female Entrepreneurship in Music’, and will see a selection of female music business founders discuss how and why they established their own company and how they’ve achieved success.
Women In Music 2018 will give women (and men, who are actively encouraged to attend) the opportunity to network with key industry figures and to hear from some of the music industry’s most influential women.
The event will be held from 5.30-10pm on January 17, 2018 at London’s Living Room, City Hall, The Queen’s Walk, London, SE1 2AA.
