Calrec Audio expands Asia-Pacific office

Led by Graham Murray (pictured), the console maker’s Asia-Pacific office reports strong levels of activity, with no fewer than 12 Omega consoles recently sold to South Korea.

Led by Graham Murray (pictured), the Asia-Pacific office of UK-based broadcast mixing console manufacturer has appointed Mr Ace Yip to a full-time technical sales and support position.

Situated on the prestigious Alexandra Techno Park development in Singapore, Calrec’s Asian office has overseen a rapid rise in the console maker’s regional sales.

“We’ve had an increase of more than 250 percent in annual sales turnover in this region since opening the office in Singapore. We now have 12 Apollo desks in Japan, including our first Apollo at NHK, and recently 12 Omega consoles have been sold to South Korea,” said Murray. “It’s all about our customers here feeling that we’re committed to this region. We have a dedicated demo room in Singapore where we run seminars and product training, and we’ve found that this can be very useful to our distributors in the region when they’re pitching to potential clients. The addition of Ace Yip to our staff will strengthen that commitment to our regional customers.”

Mr Yip, Calrec’s new product specialist Asia Pacific, is a fluent native speaker of Mandarin and Cantonese, and previously worked at MediaCorp, Singapore’s largest broadcaster. In early Autumn this year, he began handling product demonstrations and presentations at the Singapore office.

“It’s a pleasure to join the Calrec Audio team,” commented Mr Yip. “I hope to add to the great work Graham has achieved over the past couple of years.”
