Creative Audio Group announces residential course for sound engineers

The Higher Sound course is designed for engineers seeking ‘next level opportunities’.

The Creative Audio Group has announced details of its inaugural Higher Sound residential course aimed at up-skilling and career development for sound engineers seeking ‘next level’ opportunities for tour work with international acts.

Supported by d&b audiotechnik, Sennheiser and Digico, and taking place between June 26-29, the four-day course will be held at Bucks University’s Student Union in High Wycombe. Topics to be covered include audio networking, console familiarisation, PA and monitor system EQing and tuning, RF, digital audio networking and how to work effectively with bands and artists.

The course will be hosted by Creative Audio’s Dan Peters, who is also a full-time lecturer at Bucks University. Among his recent work clents are Jamiroquai, Faithless and Rita Ora.

Accompanying Peters is acclaimed FOH and monitor engineer Jon Burton, a guest lecturer at LIPA and an associate fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Burton is known for his work with Suede, Pulp, Stereophonics and The Prodigy. TV credits include Later with Jools Holland and TFI Friday, among many others.

Joining the tuition team for a day is guest lecturer and monitor engineer Joe Campble, whose engineering skills have been put to use with the likes of Adele, Manic Street Preachers and Chris Rea.

“Creative Audio want to play an inspiring and truly effective role in helping gigging sound engineers realise their full potentials with ambitions of big tours, big acts and, hopefully bigger invoices,” said Peters. “This course will equip delegates with sound higher-level knowledge based around industry standard new generation gear, and thus provide them with a more compelling CV for employers into the future.”
