Some of RCF’s latest developments at ISE include the HDL6-A active line array module, which allows a particularly fast and easy set-up, and the recent additions to the Media Series of passive speakers, including two new models, the M1001 and M1201 in white.

Visitors will also be able to familiarise themselves with the recent advancements in the EN54-16 certified DXT emergency evacuation systems. On show will also be the MZ 8060, a highly versatile digital audio matrix designed on a powerful DSP platform and based on advanced electronics, and the DPS 604X 4-channel Class D power amplifier, designed for professional use in installed sound systems. This year’s highlights also include new features of the VSA digitally steerable column speakers, and in particular the integration with RCF’s proprietary RDNet monitoring protocol.

Renkus-Heinz, a leader in steered and point source loudspeaker design, introduces the new C Series of professional loudspeakers for installed sound applications.

A reinvention and evolution of the company’s legendary CF/CFX Series, the C Series is designed to meet the needs of today’s installed AV professionals, with a broad range of systems to provide effective solutions for every sound reinforcement challenge. Designed for permanent installed applications, C Series loudspeakers are a cost-effective solution for theaters and performing arts spaces, houses of worship, multiuse venues, public spaces, and any project where quality sound, high performance, and superior pattern control are essential.

The new C Series loudspeakers incorporate the latest generation of Complex Conic Horns, with updated drivers to provide clean, natural sound and tighter pattern control. Unlike conventional loudspeaker designs, Complex Conic horns provide consistent beamwidth over a wider frequency range, with the natural, transparent sound that Renkus-Heinz is known for. And as with all Renkus-Heinz products, C Series loudspeakers are backed by Renkus-Heinz’s renowned worldwide customer support.

C Series models will be available in amplified (CA Series) and passive (CX Series) models, in black or white finish. The CX42 stairstep loudspeaker, an updated version of the highly acclaimed CFX41, will only be available in a passive design. C Series will be shipping in Spring 2017.

In partnership with the MNA (Media Networking Alliance), a RAVENNA demo rack that will be used to demonstrate AES67 interoperability. Another important product for members of the RAVENNA community is the new RAVENNA Audio Network Manager tool developed by Digigram and Merging Technologies that will be presented on the Merging stand 7-C169.

The RAVENNA demo rack features products from Lawo, Ward-Beck, ARG, Cordial, Riedel, Merging, DirectOut, Digigram and Cymatic Audio and is topped by a pair of Genelec 8430IP speakers for playout. It will be used as part of a larger setup to demonstrate AES67 interoperability between products using other network technologies including LiveWire, QLAN and Dante during the ISE AES67 Interoperability Lab session on Thursday 9th Feb in room D403. At the heart of the system is a Lawo crystal radio broadcast mixing console whose system core is in the RAVENNA rack. The crystal acts as a junction point to receive streams from the other network technology racks which will then be played out via the Genelec speakers. The RAVENNA rack includes a PC loaded with a Digigram LX-IP AoIP multichannel sound card and the RAVENNA Virtual Sound Card running a web browser for configuration and monitoring of all RAVENNA devices. The PC is also running the recently released and freely available RAV2SAP converter which enables the exchange of SDP data between devices utilising different network technologies, in particular RAVENNA and Dante.

Another important development for the RAVENNA community is the jointly developed RAVENNA/AES67 Audio Network Manager from Digigram and Merging which provides scalability, security and control of large networks. Currently in beta format, interested parties are invited to the Merging stand to see a demo and offer feedback.

Announcing the availability of four new surface-mount speakers designed for broad dispersion and high intelligibility is SoundTube Entertainment. The SM52-EZ, SM52-EZ-WX, SM82-EZ-II and SM82-EZ-II-WX offer an economical solution for integrators who need surface-mount speaker options for indoor or outdoor music and paging applications, the company says. All four SM-EZ speakers have achieved an IP65 rating in the US, which means the speakers are dust-tight and will withstand water jets aimed directly at them. The –WX models are IP65 capable out of the box; the standard models achieve this rating when an included port plug is installed. SM-EZ speakers are constructed with polypropylene woofers (5.25in in the SM52-EZ and SM-52-EZ-WX; 8in in the SM82-EZ-II and SM82-EZ-II-WX) and soft dome tweeters. SoundTube’s proprietary BroadBeam Ring technology in all four models ensures high intelligibility, even well off-axis, SoundTube Entertainment claims.

Said to be the world’s first Dolby Atmos-enabled in-wall height speaker, the AIM Series 2 ATX100 is being demonstrated by SpeakerCraft.

The ATX100’s dual drivers and tweeter fire upward into the acoustically controlled wave guide that projects the Dolby Atmos height cue information off the ceiling, creating the immersive effect. The 0.75in custom titanium dome tweeter with high-energy neodymium magnet structure features a frequency response up to 22kHz. With its dual 2.5in Kevlar-reinforced pulp mid-bass drivers, the ATX100 can handle up to 125W of amplifier power at 8 ohms.

The new Nexus routing system is being presented at ISE for the first time by Stage Tec. Nexus distributes and converts audio and non-audio signals using decentralised, networked base devices, which are populated with I/O boards corresponding to customer requirements. Although operated via a graphical user interface, the Nexus system also connects to external control systems using protocols such as EmBER+ and SNMP, as well as MIDI and GPIO. With support for DANTE and MADI, Nexus converts and transmits a wide range of formats, says Stage Tec. Networking is via duplex fibre-optic cables with variable SFP+ transceivers. AD/DA technology in the shape of the TrueMatch microphone converter achieves up to 32-bit internal resolution and a dynamic range of 158dB(A), dispensing with the need for microphone preamplifiers, according to the company.

ISE is the first major European trade show where Yamaha will be exhibiting the newly updated MA2030a and PA2030a compact power amplifiers. With extra functionality, the new models are now optimised further for commercial installations. Yamaha says that the compact, rugged MA2030a and PA2030a power amplifiers are ideal for smaller projects, both supporting low impedance and high impedance speaker systems, with an interface that has been carefully designed for easy everyday use. Set up is quick and easy, requiring no computers or complex procedures, and no special skill or experience is needed for day to day operation, the company claims. The new update has added an 8 ohm option to the existing low-impedance (30W x 2ch, 3 ohm/4 ohm selectable) output, plus high-pass and low-pass filters which make it easier to incorporate subwoofers for enhanced audio quality. EQ optimised for Yamaha VXS10S/ST subwoofers is also included.

Yamaha is also showing the compact TF-RACK rackmount mixer, which is designed for projects where flexibility is needed but space is limited. Said to be ideal for integration with systems based on Yamaha Commercial Installation Solutions (CIS) products, TF-RACK has been created to offer increased versatility. Housed in a 3U high, 19in rack casing, TF-RACK is a space-saving, all-in-one 16+1 stereo in, 16 out digital mixer featuring the ease of setup and operation provided by Yamaha’s intuitive TouchFlow Operation.
