John Stiernberg dies at 66

John Stiernberg, president and founder of Stiernberg Consulting, has died at the age of 66 following months battling with cancer.

Chicago-born Stiernberg earned a reputation as a highly revered pro audio business consultant throughout his career, founding Stiernberg Consulting in 1993 with his wife of 45 years Jeanne. In addition to pro audio, the company also catered for the music, AV and entertainment technology industries.

He was also accomplished bluegrass and gospel musician and as strong supporter of music and technology education, maintaining an active role n numerous trade organisations including NAMM, InfoComm, NSCA, and CEDIA. A dynamic keynote speaker, he was a frequent contributor to industry publications, creating hundreds of white papers and reports, and authoring the acclaimed music industry guidebook, Succeeding in Music: Business Chops for Performers and Songwriters.

Stiernberg is survived by his wife Jeanne; his mother, Myra Stiernberg; brother Donald Stiernberg and sister-in-law Ilene Stiernberg; niece Bonnie Stiernberg; nephew Charlie Stiernberg; and brother-in-law Matthew Broughton.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested a donation to one of many charitable causes he was committed to, including the NAMM Foundation, as well as Bay City United Methodist Church, Bay City, OR.
