KT is API with her new console

KMR Audio has supplied an API 1608 recording console to singer-songwriter KT Tunstall for her home studio.

Edinburgh-born singer-songwriter KT Tunstall has recently acquired a new API 1608 recording console from Pro-Audio specialists KRM Audio for her home studio in Berkshire. Despite being on tour promoting her latest album Tiger Suit, Tunstall has already found the time to utilise the console for a variety of new projects; and she’s already a big fan. “After looking at the alternatives, the API stood out as the modern version of a classic recording console, as well as being really popular with fellow musicians and producers,” Tunstall explains. “It’s the perfect size for my live-room set-up; a simple, old-school feel desk. Beautiful, vibey, gorgeous sound, easy to get around, and it looks amazing with the lights off.” The console is a standard 1608 with 16 inputs, each with a mic preamp and EQ. It features eight main busses, eight auxiliary busses, one stereo bus, eight echo returns with main and stereo bus assign, Full Centre Section Control Analogue Metering, 5.1 Centre Section Monitoring, and eight 500 series slots. It also has a pair of additional API 525 compressor modules and a custom built stand. Tunstall will perform at the RSC in Stratford-Upon-Avon on June 19th, and Glastonbury’s Avalon Stage on June 24th, before some serious jet-setting culminating in performances in Korea, Japan, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Canada and the UK during July and August.
