SSL, Van Damme cabling for birthday at Cake

Ivor Novello Award-winning producer/songwriter Steve Booker’s new Cake Studios opened its doors in July following the installation of a 48-channel SSL Duality-equipped control room.

Technical installation at the London recording studio (pictured) was handled by Langdale Technical Consulting – its 100th control room installation – with Van Damme blue series cable throughout. Also present is a “huge 96 channel Pro Tools rig and a host of high-end analogue outboard gear”.

The majority of the bespoke Van Damme cabling was manufactured at VDC Trading’s King’s Cross, London, facility, and spec’d after close liaison between Langdale’s Bill Ward and VDC’s technical director, Nick Chmara, a solution VDC says the two parties “have implemented highly successfully on a number of previous occasions”.

And it looks like Booker is happy with the combination, too…
