Martin Audio XD Series

High-powered full-range speakers

What is it?A pair of two-way enclosures designed for live sound, theatre/fixed installations and high-power stage monitoring applications.DetailsThe XD12 and XD15 are designed to offer higher output levels and a broader frequency range than similarly-sized systems. Both are said to deliver a full, rich sound and an accurate 80° x 50° dispersion pattern in a compact, multi-angle enclosure suited to a wide range of uses – from distributed sound reinforcement and portable AV events, to dancefloor and stage monitor use. Enclosures can be used in either horizontal (landscape) or vertical (portrait) orientation, with rotation of the high frequency horn easily accomplished by removing the screw-free, protective grille. Comprehensive brackets support a wide variety of mounting options including surface, ceiling and pole. The XD12 combines a 12” LF drive unit with a 1” exit compression driver on a constant directivity horn. Depending on requirements, it can be driven passively or bi-amped; the internal crossover is switchable externally between the two modes. High priority has been placed on maximising driver output. The LF unit has a lightweight 3” voice coil and utilises a high gap flux neodymium magnet assembly for maximum sensitivity; the cone is made of a new pulp formulation plus an epoxy treatment to ensure smooth mechanical breakup and a high strength-to-weight ratio. The XD15 offers many of the same design and cosmetic features. Capable of producing 132dB peak SPL at 1m and a usable LF response down to 45Hz, it house a powerful 15” LF drive unit with a 4” voice and a 1.4” exit compression driver on the user-rotatable 80° x 50° horn. And another thing…Multi-purpose yokes are available for both the XD12 and the XD15 – each designed to mount the enclosure on ceilings, walls, trusses or poles – together with purpose-designed universal brackets to facilitate a wide range of down-tilt and up-tilt angles in both portrait and landscape orientation.
