McCusker Pro-Audio the pride of Armagh with new VTX V20 rig

The JBL system was out three times during its first weekend with the family-run hire company

Sound Technology, Harman Professional’s UK and RoI distributor, has strengthed its presence in Northern Ireland with the sale of a JBL VTX sound-reinforcement system to McCusker Pro-Audio.

The family-run Armagh sales, hire and installation house, a longtime JBL user, upgraded its frontline fleet with the US manufacturer’s new VTX V20 system. Director Barry McCusker, who fronts the business with brother Colin and father Enda (pictured), confirmed the purchase of a rig comprising 24 VTX V20 dual 10” line-array elements, eight VTX G28 ground-stacked dual 18” subwoofers and four VTX S25 dual 15” arrayable subwoofers.

“We looked at two or three leading brands, but when we auditioned the JBL VTX at Sound Technology’s Letchworth demo facility it simply sounded the best,” says McCusker. “Also, it was flexible: small enough to do our normal day-to-day gigs and sufficiently powerful to handle the larger stuff.”

The VTX V20 rig was out three times during its first weekend with McCusker, on 1–3 August, at the Belfast Pride festival, Ballymore Country Music Festival in County Armagh and Clonmany Festival in County Donegal in the Irish Republic.

“Over the weekend we received a lot of very positive feedback from both visiting engineers and the attending public,” McCusker concludes.
