PL+S 2019: Yamaha showcases TF Series update

The TF StageMix iPad app has also been upgraded, allowing control of playback from and recording to a USB storage device connected to the mixer

Yamaha has revealed its latest update to Yamaha’s TF Series digital mixers at Prolight + Sound, which takes the TouchFlow Operation of the TF5, TF3, TF1 and TF-RACK to new heights.

The V4.0 update adds a Selected Channel View, which provides access to the main parameters for the currently selected input channel in a single display. Combined with the mixer’s Touch and Turn knobs, the new view provides more intuitive, efficient operation.

It also adds a scene fade time function that offers added flexibility for scene management, particularly in theatrical applications, plus four extra mute groups which can have any input assigned to them. User Defined keys can also be used to control mute groups. Support for DZR-D and DXS-XLF-D series speakers has been expanded, with speaker amp mute control directly from the mixer display.

Yamaha’s research and development team has cooperated closely with microphone and in-ear monitor (IEM) manufacturers, as well as a large number of sound engineers, to create an extensive selection of new QuickPro Presets for a variety of microphones, in-ear monitors and speakers. The new presets include in-ear monitors from Westone Laboratories.

The TF StageMix iPad app has also been upgraded, allowing control of playback from and recording to a USB storage device connected to the mixer. The TF StageMix update also adds User Defined Button functionality to the iPad, for enhanced remote-control versatility.

“Regular updates to the TF series give users evolved features and control, offering improved compatibility with a growing range of applications,” said Yoshi Tsugawa, Yamaha pro audio general manager. “Version 4.0 takes operation to a higher level with a new Selected Channel View display and a powerful selection of new QuickPro Presets that provide easy, efficient operation for users of all levels.”

“Westone is thrilled and honoured to have had the opportunity to work with Yamaha and include the presets for our custom-fit and universal-fit in-ear monitors to the TF series of mixers,” added Karl Cartwright, at Westone Laboratories Product Development. “The complete range of Westone products is represented, including our ES Series of custom-fit models and both the UM and revolutionary AM Series of passive-ambient monitors. The QuickPro presets offered in the Yamaha TF series allow engineers to quickly and easily set a starting point for their IEM mix.”
