PreSonus StudioLive AI-series

Active Integration speaker range

What is it? A range of “Active Integration” speakers said to deliver studio-quality audio accuracy for stage applications and offering with wireless or wired remote control and monitoring via iPad or laptop. Details PreSonus’ collaboration with Fulcrum Acoustics led to the incorporation of TQ Temporal Equalization algorithms in StudioLive AI-series speakers using multiple, fully-addressable Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filters to eliminate horn reflections and correct linear time and amplitude anomalies. In addition, FFT tools and performance monitoring via the onboard DSP provide what the company claims is the most powerful suite of tools ever included in a loudspeaker system. Another key component of the design is the use of Active Integration technology combining wireless and wired networking and communications with the DSP to create a unified working environment. All StudioLive AI-series loudspeakers include a USB Wi-Fi module to connect to SL Room Control software over a wireless network. The latter is a system-configuration application for Mac OS X, Windows and iPad environments that provides both individual and grouped speaker control and includes a 31-band graphic EQ, 8-band parametric EQ, muting, soloing and level control in addition to performance monitoring (over temperature, click detection, and excursions). A network-setup wizard is also included to quickly connect each speaker to your wireless network. An included Ethernet port on each speaker can be replaced with an AVB option card expected to available in late 2013. Full-range AI-series speakers are available in three configurations. Each compact, powered, 3-way speaker houses a custom-designed, 8″ coaxial speaker with a 1.75″ titanium compression driver for mid/high frequencies and triamplified Class-D amplifier configuration delivering a combined output of 2kW. The StudioLive 312AI comes equipped with a 12″ ferrite driver to handle low frequencies while the StudioLive 328AI houses dual 8″ ferrite drivers in a streamlined and compact enclosure. For larger venues, the StudioLive 315AI provides 3-way coverage with a 15″ driver for low frequencies. And another thing… The full-range speaker systems are pole-mountable and feature two ergonomic side handles, interlocking stacking, and M10 fly points. All enclosures are of lightweight plywood construction.
