Listen to our Spotify playlist featuring tracks referenced in December's issue

The December issue of PSNEurope is out next week – featuring the usual big interviews and latest need-to-know on all things pro audio. In this month’s issue, we speak to Focusrite MD Phil Dudderidge, MOBO founder and all-round industry legend Kanya King and Marta Salogni, the producer behind one of the 2017’s most talked about albums, Bjork’s Utopia.

Listen to the great work behind some of the industry’s foremost figures in this month’s playlist – link below.

1. Cause We’ve Ended as Lovers – Jeff Beck

We spoke to Focusrite MD Phil Dudderidge for the main interview in the December issue, who has a guitar signed by Jeff Beck hung up in his office. A loose reference, perhaps, but any excuse to listen to some Jeff Beck.

2. Hysteria – Muse

We visited Backstage Academy in west Yorkshire this month to find out how it’s training up the ‘next generation of live professionals’. A 2017 Academy graduate worked on Muse’s Milan dates of their most recent tour, with many other current and ex- students working on high-profile shows and festivals.

3. Musical Boxes – Kate Dimbleby

PSNEurope editor Daniel Gumble spoke to up and coming producer Lauren Deakin-Davies about her latest projects in this issue. She also spoke about the importance of the studio during the most recent PSNPresents panel night – listen to her work on Kate Dimbleby’s album, which has received airtime on BBC Radio 2.

4. Big For Your Boots – Stormzy

Fraser T Smith worked with grime artist Stormzy on one of the biggest albums of the year – Stormzy’s Gang Signs & Prayer.

5. Cigarettes & Cush – Stormzy (feat. Kehlani and Lily Allen)

Smith told PSNEurope that the “concept was the important thing about this album”, merging the heavy sounds and atmosphere of ‘Gang Signs’ with the softer and more contemplative ideas of ‘Prayer’, heard on this Lily Allen collaboration.

6. Doing Me – RAY BLK

MOBO founder Kanya King is a huge name in the music industry, well-respected among her peers and extremely influential in who’ll be featuring in future charts. She spoke to PSNEurope about MOBO’s partnership with Help Musicians to create the MOBO Help Musicians fund, supporting grassroots producers and artists with financial grants. Ray BLK is nominated for the Best Female Act at this year’s MOBOs.

7. Ain’t Nothing Changed – Loyle Carner

Loyle Carner is also up for awards at this year’s MOBOs: Best Newcomer and Best Hip Hop Artist. Read our interview with King on page 36-38 of the December issue.

8. Blissing Me – Björk

We speak to Marta Salogni on pages 40-42, a prolific producer who has worked on one of the most talked about releases of the year in the form of Björk’s Utopia.

9. The Gate – Björk

After initially being asked to produce a single track on the album, the Icelandic singer and artist liked her work so much she asked her to produce the whole album.

10. Ulysses – Franz Ferdinand

With the MPG Awards coming up in January, we spoke to some of the previous winners of the producers awards – a PSNEurope exclusive. Paul Savage, Breakthrough Producer of the Year 2010 winner, worked on this well-received Franz Ferdinand album.
