RAVENNA, a company that develops IP transport technology for the broadcast industry, is preparing to showcase its products at IBC 2019 – Hall 8, stand F57.
Highlights include the latest version of the RAVENNA demo rack; an IP-networked record and playback solution; and a first-time showing of real-time audio metadata transport over IP.
Visitors will be able to see the RAVENNA demo rack in operation with RAVENNA-AES67-enabled devices from a dozen manufacturers supplemented by several table-top devices, including the RAVENNA-enabled TM9 interface for audio level monitors from the newest RAVENNA partner, RTW, and the new QARION headphone monitor from Qbit. The demo covers RAVENNA/AES67 and ST2110-30 audio stream interoperability (including Dante AES67 streams) as well as ST2022-7 stream redundancy and NMOS IS-04/IS-05 support.
Other demonstrations will include RAVENNA’s partner Merging Technologies, in conjunction with Cymatic Audio, presenting a record and playback solution consisting of Merging’s new ANUBIS monitoring device and Cymatic’s uTrack24 player/recorder, both connected through a RAVENNA/AES67 network controlled by Merging’s ANEMAN software.
Secondly, RAVENNA partner Dolby Labs has a very exciting demo of real-time audio metadata transport utilising RAVENNA’s AM824/SMPTE ST 2110-31 format. Seen for the first time at IBC 2019, Ross Video Newt and Iggy AoIP converters as well as DirectOut’s Prodigy audio converter/router are used to transport the audio parts of a multi-channel video clip as linear PCM audio with RAVENNA/AES67 (or ST2110-30), while real-time metadata generated by the Dolby DP590 Object Authoring tool is translated into sADM format (ST337/AES3) and transported in real-time with RAVENNA’s bit-transparent AM824 format (which is identical to SMPTE ST 2110-31) utilising Lawo’s A__Dig8 AoIP node. The rendering device is then sample-accurately rendering the received audio data according to the corresponding metadata.
Dolby is also demonstrating further metadata applications in the Future Zone at 8.F09, close to the RAVENNA booth.
In addition, RAVENNA evangelist and AoIP networking expert, Andreas Hildebrand, will be giving a presentation on “ST 2110-30 and NMOS IS-08 – Audio Transport and Routing” at the IP Showcase Theatre (room E105/106) on Saturday, September 14 at 3:30pm.
