Redevelopment planned for Kate Bush’s former recording studio

Plans to turn the publicity-shy superstar’s former recording studio in Theale, Berkshire, into guest accommodations have met no objections from the parish council.

As reported at, the studio that once belonged to English superstar Kate Bush, CBE, in Theale is facing redevelopment. Permission to convert the studio was granted in September, but development has been put on hold until council planners approved details of the new windows and doors. The recording studio forms part of the Grade II-listed Georgian buildings set in a conservation area to the south of Theale. The plans, which seek to convert the studio into guest accommodations, have met no objections from Theale parish council or the neighbouring Burghfield. A decision on the development plans is expected from West Berkshire council by 7 October. An exceptionally private individual, Bush moved from Theale to Devon sometime in 2011.
