Yesterday Roland Systems Group (RSG) introduced the Roland Ethernet Audio Communication (REAC) Driver Kit for the company’s V-Mixing System, enabling users to record 40 simultaneous audio tracks into SONAR X1 Producer software via one Cat5e/6 cable from a REAC System to a PC Ethernet Port.
The kit is intended for use with the Roland V-Mixer Consoles M-480, M-380, M-400, and M-300, and is compatible with Roland S-4000 and S-1608 Digital Snake Systems. It will be available for purchase from RSG authorized resellers starting April 2012.
In related Roland news, a new firmware update (V1.5) has been released for the M-480 V-Mixer console. The free update includes increased DCA groups – from 8 to 24 – and a scene fade function for use in theatre and broadcast situations.
Additionally, five new channel effects have been included in the release: multi-band compression/expansion and four modeled BOSS compact effects including OD/DS series (Overdrive/Distortion), DD-3 (Digital Delay), DM-5 (Delay) and CE-1 (Chorus Ensemble).
The V1.5 update will also be available in April 2012 and can be downloaded from the RSG website under the M-480 section.
