Sonifex RB-DS2

What is it?A stereo delay synchroniser and time-zone delay for re-synchronising audio to video following delay processes. DetailsThe RB-DS2 can be used for fixed installations to correct a permanent audio delay, or, on an intermittent basis, to provide occasional correction – for example, for live links. Accepting digital audio signals up to 96kHz, 24-bit, the RB-DS2 includes both balanced analogue and AES/EBU digital audio inputs and outputs on XLR connectors. It can act as a combined A/D and D/A unit, providing delay to the analogue input signals and outputting them as AES/EBU – or vice-versa. Designed for stereo delay applications, it can also be used in dual mono mode to process each audio path separately, or as a mono delay only. Up to 10.5 seconds delay is possible at 96kHz, 24-bit sampling, (42s at 48kHz, 16-bit). Internal Compact Flash provides up to 2GB of accessible memory, offering delay times of over four hours to delay a programme output across different time-zones, for example, or shift a programme by one hour for a satellite re-broadcast. Delay times can be selected in samples, fields, frames, metres, milliseconds and, with the Compact Flash expansion, in hh:mm:ss. A front-panel display and rotary controller is used to adjust delay settings, which include the source (analogue or digital), channels, sample rate, sample bit width, format (PAL or NTSC), delay units and the delay itself. Additionally, input peak digits can be selected from +12dBu, +18dBu and +24dBu for FSD; left/right pre-set controls on the rear panel allow the input gain range to be adjusted by ±3dB around the selected peak digits. All of the settings can be saved to one of eight configuration memories which can be viewed, edited, saved and loaded using one of the eight GPI contacts.
