SSE launches L-Acoustics KIVA II tour

Along with the X Series and Avid's S6L, the kit will be shown in three venues across the UK

For the first time, SSE will be showcasing the L-Acoustics KIVA II, along with the new L-Acoustics X series, by taking the kit on the road to three UK venues.

SSE has also invited AVID along to demonstrate their flagship S6L digital console at the free events.

The tour kicks off on October 28 at Fly By Nite Rehearsal Complex in Redditch, then moves on to the Theatre Royal in Wakefield on October 31 and ends at the University of Westminster, Harrow Campus on November 8.

SSE sales director Alex Penn says: “We’re really looking forward to taking the new KIVA II out on this promotional tour. It’s a first for us at SSE and we’ve chosen some really great venues to host these events. It’s also the first opportunity for us to see how KIVA II performs – the A-B comparison test between the old KIVA system and the new KIVA II should be particularly interesting.”

L-Acoustics KIVA II (pictured above) is a new ultra-compact modular line source adding 6dB of max SPL versus its predecessor, maximised amplifier density with 16ohm impedance and a new rugged enclosure material. The X Series is the coaxial point source range of loudspeakers from L-Acoustics, aimed at installations and stage monitoring applications.

Avid’s S6L is a fully modular, scalable live sound mixing system, and with the latest VENUE 5.3 software, support is provided for the new MADI-192 option card, while people can double their channel count for recording, playback and Virtual Soundcheck.

In terms of the venues Fly By Nite Rehearsal Studios is a state of the art arena sized rehearsal venue, while Theatre Royal Wakefield was built in 1894 and is the smallest theatre designed by architect Frank Matcham.

Meanwhile, Area 51 at Westminster University Harrow Campus is part of the Music Arts and Design department and is used for several courses including BMUS Commercial Music Performance, BA Commercial Music and MA Audio Production. SSE Audio installed a complete audio lighting and AV package in Area 51 in 2014.
