Cape Town, Cayman Islands (December 18, 2014)—Located south of Cuba, the Cayman Islands has hosted a variety of concerts and festivals over the years with the help of AI Rentals, which brings with it a sizable collection of D.A.S. Audio loudspeakers, including Event and Action Series speakers.
Recently, AI Rentals used its D.A.S. loudspeakers at the 2014 Cayman Islands Pirates Week Festival. The event ran for 10 days in November and featured music, street dances, competitions, games, parades, sports events and fireworks.
For the project, the main stage PA system consisted of two hangs of 8 Event 210A loudspeakers plus two more for infills that were mounted on the subs. Those subs were 16 Event 218A enclosures positioned in a single line across the front of the stage and delayed to make a virtual arc. Outfills consisted of two additional Event 210A hangs. There was also a single delay stack comprised of four Event 210A enclosures. Sidefills and drumfills consisted of Action 118A bass enclosures with Action 15A systems. Further, Action 12A enclosures served as stage monitors.
On the DJ stage, the AI Rentals crew deployed two hangs of six Event 210A and eight Event 218A subs. A pair of Action 15A enclosures were used for monitors.
“What was particularly notable was the exceptional low frequency response,” commented Keith Tibbetts, managing director at AI Rentals. “The system was very clean and natural sounding, with very accurate sound reproduction and high SPL. Everyone was really pleased with the system’s performance.”
“We started using D.A.S. Audio products in April of 2014,” added Tibbetts. “The Event line was exactly what we were looking for. These loudspeakers offer great sound in a compact form factor. The Class D amplifiers in these loudspeakers also require so much less power than comparable systems, which enables us to be much more efficient.”
