Chennai, India (June 20, 2017)—The Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall (SMVRCH) is a respected live performance space located at the bustling Harrington Road area in the central part of Chennai. The theatre houses a large stage, an art school, a gallery/lounge and coffee shop, and has hosted everything from the U.S. Consulate, Alliance Francaise and Russian Cultural Center, to the Hindu International Music Festival, to a popular Elton John tribute band.
Ensuring that all these events are heard properly, the facility has an extensive d&b audiotechnik system, designed and installed by Ansata, based around a dozen Yi8 line array elements, four Yi10 line array elements and four Yi-Sub, all powered by a trio of D80 power amplifiers. Other gear in the system includes numerous DPA d:fine headset microphones and d:screet omnidirectional microphones, all of which were also provided for by Ansata.
Krish Kumar, a key member of the managing committee of SMVRCH, commented, “The d&b Audiotechnik Y-Series offers a really smooth and clean sound, plus the power to really impress when required. Our ideology from the get-go has always been about top-notch quality—commissioning the use of top-notch products and technologies so that our audiences have nothing less than the finest experience possible.
The decision to switch to a d&b audiotechnik system was weighed and considered, said Kumar: “While we were quite pleased with the performance of the audio system that was previously installed here, we realized that integrating the space with d&b Audiotechnik would be far more beneficial to us, not just because of the technological superiority of its products, but mainly because of its stellar representation and service here through Leslie and his team at Ansata. For me personally, that was the key.”
