Kenton Forsythe Returns to EAW

A co-founder of the company, Forsythe designed classic loudspeakers like the KF850.

Whitinsville, MA (January 22, 2019)—Three years ago, EAW’s vice president of Strategic Engineering Kenton Forsythe left the company he co-founded in the mid-1970s, but now Forsythe has returned to the fold, contributing to new advanced product development.

His presence is on a part-time basis (“I don’t want to work that hard”), collaborating with suppliers on component designs as well as new product development concepts, working with and under head of engineering, Geoff McKinnon, and director of Product Management, Jeremy Forsythe. “I kind of reclaimed my role as the transducer guru,” he said.

EAW President Talks Acquisition by RCF Group, What’s Ahead

Forsythe is a crucial part of the company’s past, not merely due to co-founding it, but also because of the loudspeaker designs he created along the way, including the KF850, which was an industry staple for year. Nonetheless, he’s intent on looking forward instead of back. “We’re not getting the team back together,” he clarified. “We are assembling a new group of much younger people who have the energy and the passion that we brought to it 30 or 40 years ago. We’re trying the stretch the boundaries of what can be done with the technology, and we’re working on new products that are going to knock your socks off.”

Part of that, he said, will come due to the resources now available to EAW. “Now we’re owned by Arturo Vicari, who also owns RCF and db Technologies, which opens a new toolkit,” said Forsythe. “We operate independently, but are part of a group of companies, and the technology can be shared amongst the groups. RCF also has really good components that are now available to us, so we have resources we didn’t have previously.”

So how was his intermission? “When I left three years ago, I took a year off, and my wife and I worked on our ‘honey do’ list,” he said. “We’re still working on that.”
