Martin Audio Talks Coronavirus Business Impact

Like all pro-audio manufacturers, Martin Audio is looking ahead and taking steps to move forward through the rapidly evolving coronavirus situation.

United Kingdom (March 16, 2020)—The rapidly evolving coronavirus situation is affecting all corners of the pro-audio industry, and as many pro-audio manufacturers now have a global presence, their actions and reactions concerning the pandemic affect others in the business as well. With that in mind, customers and others have been alerted as to Martin Audio business concerns, steps that have been taken and the status of its inventory and manufacturing capabilities.

Concerning the manufacturing and supply of its products, Martin Audio announced that it has “good stocks” in its European and US hubs of ADORN on-wall loudspeakers, BlacklineX, BlacklineX Powered and its existing ceiling range, though it noted “a recent spike in demand,” particularly with Blackline X8.

Martin Audio Adds to Adorn Series

Martin Audio business priorities have included numerous new products announced in January and February come out, and now the company reports that while the products’ manufacturing in China was impacted by the outbreak, its suppliers have now returned to work. As a result, the new China-only S. Series is now shipping from April; the new Blackline X218 subwoofer will be available from European and US hubs from May; the new Blackline XH15 (Asia-only) will ship from China in May; and the new ADORN ceiling speakers will ship from US and European hubs from June, with the ADORN pendant a month later.

While Italy is now fully quarantined, Martin Audio’s UK manufacturing plant has received a large consignment of Italian drivers that have gone through necessary checks, providing the company with a level of confidence in the short term for a continuity of manufacture and supply of key lines. The company adds that it’s not facing supply constraints in regards to its VIA or iKON amplifiers, though it is running low on the DX0.5. “We are investigating alternative solutions,” says the company.

While the company’s upcoming UK Open Days have been cancelled due to coronavirus / COVID-19, it is monitoring whether to change plans for upcoming UK Training Workshops, US Wavefront Precision Demos and US Wavefront Precision Training Workshops. Similarly, it is waiting to see what happens with upcoming trade shows such as PLASA Focus Leeds and InfoComm 2020, and plans to make decisions on each by mid-April if the shows are not cancelled at that time.
