Los Angeles, CA (May 20, 2016)—When you think portable PA uses, houses of worship, small bands, coffee houses and the like come to mind first, but in truth, they’ve been an integral part of DJ culture for decades. With that in mind, Peavey is sponsoring this weekend’s 2016 DMC Los Angeles Battle + DMC USA Battle for Supremacy, taking place simultaneously in Los Angeles this weekend, Sunday, May 22, from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. at Fuego Lounge Rooftop on S. Figueroa St.
For both the Los Angeles regional and USA Supremacy battles, Peavey will award the first place winner with a pair of PVXp 15 speakers and the second place winner with a pair of PVXp 12 speakers. Both models feature heavy-duty woofers, 2-3/8" voice coils and A Peavey RX14 1.4" titanium diaphragm compression driver coupled to a constant directivity horn.
Representing the Peavey brand, Keith Shocklee of Public Enemy and The Bomb Squad will be in attendance to perform. He noted, "Peavey was there at the beginning of hip hop. I’ve been using Peavey gear since 1975. In early mobile DJ culture, they were the working man's loudspeaker system. The thing about Peavey equipment was that it was accessible and reliable for cats like us growing up in the suburbs and inner city."
Both DMC battles will be hosted by Toquon Tha MC and judged by DJ Icy Ice, Dini and more to be announced. The DMC Los Angeles Regional DJ Battle is a classic solo showcase-style DJ battle. The champion will win a round-trip flight and one-night hotel stay to compete in the 2016 DMC US Finals. The DMC USA Battle for Supremacy is a head-to-head, vinyl/DVS-only battle. The champion of this competition will win a round-trip flight and hotel stay to compete in the 2016 DMC World Finals in London, England.
