Port Perry, ON (February 9, 2018)—Charlie Puth has made a name for himself over the last few years with a string of hit singles, from “One Call Away” to his featured spot on Wiz Khalifa’s 2015 single “See You Again.” Recently he hit the road for an arena tour across North America with Shawn Mendes; along for the 28-show journey was FOH engineer Liam Clifford, who in turn brought along an Adamson Systems Engineering E-Series and S-Series loudspeaker system.
“I loved the vocal clarity in the E-Series more so than any other box I’ve mixed on. That’s the most important thing to me, especially when mixing a pop artist,” said Clifford, who had not toured with an Adamson system before.
“The other big plus is the amount of headroom we had. FOH was often between 140 and 160 ft. from the PA every day due to a B-stage located where FOH would typically go. Even at this distance, it felt like the PA was right in front of me.”
The typical configuration on the tour saw the system hung in main hangs of 15 Adamson E15 three-way enclosures and three E12 three-way enclosures per side. The left and right sub hangs were each comprised of eight E119 subwoofers. Also in the air were a pair of side hangs comprised of 12 E15s and three E12s each.
“The single 19-in. subs were new to me, though I really liked the way they coupled with the E15s,” Clifford adds about the E119s. “I had a great low-end response and even coverage from front to back without slamming the first couple of rows with low end.”
“We made a great impression on this tour, and a lot of that had to do with the great sound and support we received from Adamson,” concludes Clifford. “I couldn’t have been happier with the system or the results.”
