Yinchuan, Ningxia, China (February 6, 2020)—There’s mega clubs and then there’s places like Alien•C, a massive 37,000-square-foot club in Yinchuan, China with a roughly 11,000-square-foot main floor with an 80-foot high ceiling. Since opening this past November, the club has packed ‘em in with plenty for visitors to do on the floor, the VIP room and in a variety of Karaoke rooms.
Providing audio for all those spaces are a number of systems from Canadian loudspeaker manufacturer PK Sound, provided by Beijing-based distributor Polar Audio. That massive main floor? Dancers get the groove from two hangs of Trinity 10 line arrays, which are set up to cover the entire length of the room, wall-to-wall, rather than focus strictly on the dance floor as in North American clubs.
In addition to the two main hangs featuring seven Trinity 10 boxes per side, Alien•C fills out the sound using four CX800 and six Klarity 12 speakers for delays throughout, as well as four Gravity 218 subwoofers. PK Sound also supplied Alien•C’s monitor system, which has Klarity 12 and Klarity 218 speakers, as well as the VIP room’s four CX215 and four CX800 loudspeakers.
“In these Chinese clubs it’s literally front-to-back, side-to-side, top-to-bottom, filled with people,” said Trevor Grenier, senior accounts manager at PK Sound. “They don’t move from their general locations very often, so it can be a bit of a challenge, but we were able to attain a good and consistent energy throughout at Alien•C.”
