Los Angeles, CA (July 15, 2016)—The Television Academy announced its nominations, including eight categories for outstanding sound, for the 68th Emmy Awards in a ceremony hosted by Television Academy chairman and CEO Bruce Rosenblum.

Overall, while Game of Thrones again tallied the most nominations with 23 (last year, it received 24), limited series The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story and Fargo received 22 nominations and 18 nominations respectively.

HBO received 94 nominations, the most of any network. ABC, CBS and FOX received fewer nominations than in 2015 (NBC received the same number as last year, 41). Cable networks shut the commercial networks out of the best drama category for the fifth straight year.

After fully transitioning to an online voting system last year, the academy reportedly saw a 22 percent increase in participation for this year’s nomination round. Final-round online voting begins August 15.
