New York, NY (November 16, 2012)—The 13th annual Latin Grammy Awards were held Thursday night at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas; among the 47 awards given over the course of the evening were the two in the Production Category—Producer of the Year and Best Engineered Album.

Producer of the Year went to Juan Luis Guerra, an artist in his own right, who won for his work on Juanes’ MTV Unplugged album. A Dominican singer, songwriter and producer, Guerra was nominated for six awards this year—the most nominations for one person—and took home two, bringing his career total to 12 Latin Grammys. Juanes’ MTV Unplugged album also took home the Album of the Year award, and its associated home video release of MTV Unplugged won Best Long Form Music Video.

The Best Engineered Album trophies went to Arturo Sandoval’s Dear Diz (Every Day I Think Of You) on the Concord Jazz label. The collection was produced by Sandoval and label head Greg Field; was engineered by Field and Don Murray; and was mastered by Telarc Concord Records mastering engineer Paul Blakemore.
