Belgium (October 8, 2019)—DPG Media in Belgium is in the final stages of building out two separate facilities—one for news and one for entertainment programming—using Lawo for all audio-, video- and control-over-IP tasks
An all-new ST2110-based IP production facility at Medialaan in Vilvoorde, near Brussels, dedicated to DPG Media’s entertainment offering (leading private TV channel vtm) is scheduled for initial tests in November. DPG Media’s news service in Antwerp will be up and running at the end of 2019.
DPG Media’s reported aim is to enable remote operation in various configurations, so part of the specified components will be housed in flightcases and used at the Medialaan premises and all over Belgium during outside broadcast events. Video distribution, multiviewer generation and glue will be provided by Lawo’s V__matrix platform. The entertainment production gallery will be equipped with an installed setup with the ability to control the remote set over IP (LAN or WAN).
A 64-fader Lawo mc²56 mixing console, two additional Nova 73 routers and four A__UHD Cores will take care of the audio side. The A__UHD Cores provide enough DSP in various configurations to enable concurrent access from several consoles. One central Nova 73 will connect DPG Media’s pre-existing Lawo audio setup to the new production facility.
The remote rack, for its part, will be fitted with three A__stage80 multi-format audio stageboxes that natively support ST2022-7-based, fully redundant WAN remote operation. System-wide 2022-7 redundancy is provided by two independent Arista networks.
Orchestration will be delivered by Lawo’s VSM broadcast control system consisting of a central server in the data center and 23 hardware and software control panels.
