Dhaka, Bangladesh (July 28, 2016)—Dhaka’s new 96.4 Spice FM radio station has hit the air, bringing with it a new wave of technology in its studios with the adoption of Lawo’s crystalCLEAR virtual mixing.
The installation, on the 13th floor of Dhaka’s MG Tower, began in early 2016 and was completed in May, allowing the station to begin broadcasting in July. In the studio, there are just two PC screens—one for the crystalCLEAR virtual console and another one for radio automation. The PC with crystalCLEAR also serves as a social media PC and provides the station’s other Internet services. There are four microphones and a headphone amplifier for guests and DJ, and a telephone set for incorporating phone-ins into the programming.
“Price was one of the main concerns,” says Boon Siong Tan, Southeast Asia sales director at Lawo’s Singapore office. “The crystalCLEAR virtual radio console offers them the best fit for their requirement, both in terms of price and their aim to make the studio design special and unique—it’s a futuristic and cool setup, with very few components in studio.”
