LipSync Upgrades to Atmos with Avid, AMS Neve

Post facility aims to combine analog and digital worlds with update.

London, UK (May 14, 2018)—Post-production house LipSync Post has upgraded its Soho-based facility, enlisting the help of HHB Communications’ Scrub division to create a hybrid, dual Avid S6 and AMS Neve DFC-3D desk, and also upgrade to Dolby Atmos mixes with a new HE-RMU Rendering and Mastering Unit.

The new set-up allows full access to both the classic Neve DFC sound while also bringing more hands-on control of Avid Pro Tools automation via the S6 desks.

In order to streamline the workflow as more projects are mixed exclusively “in the box”, LipSync installed the S6s within the same frame as the DFC, with custom furniture created by Frozen Fish Design. The aim of the Dual Operator configuration is to free the mix engineers to work on separate Pro Tools systems simultaneously in order to speed up turnaround times as needed.

Rob Hughes, senior re-recording mixer for LipSync Post commented, “The move into extended surround formats like Dolby Atmos is very exciting. We have now completed our first feature mix in the refitted theatre. It has a very detailed, involved soundtrack; the new system handled it with ease.”

Scrub CTO John Johnson noted, “LipSync have combined the best of both worlds with this brand-new upgrade, which showcases how we listen to our clients’ unique requirements and support them from concept, to install and beyond.”
