SPARS President Kirk Imamura SPARS once again hosted speed mentoring sessions at the 135th AES Convention held in New York, October 17-20, 2013. I dropped in to check it out and saw a number of familiar faces among the mentors. While the convention show floor was bustling with one of the biggest AES turnout in years, these mentor sessions were engaging and vibrant, with energy and dynamic interchange.
SPARS mentoring sessions featured leading industry professionals in the fields of Gaming, Live Sound/Live Recording, Sound for Picture and Studio Production. The mentors met with participants face-to-face in small groups to offer advice, share their experiences and answer questions about the industry and careers.
The Ask SPARS sessions were made possible with the support of AES and the Game Audio Network Guild (GANG), as well as the cooperation of the talented line up of mentors.
“Each time we have hosted speed mentoring,” remarked SPARS President Kirk Imamura, “the response from mentees have been tremendous, and in many documented cases, life-changing. Many mentors who participate in these sessions tell me that the experience is rejuvenating for them because of the vibrancy and passion of young people.”
