Culpeper, VA (April 26, 2018)—As the Audio Engineering Society gears up for its upcoming landmark conference on Audio Archiving, Preservation & Restoration June 28-30, 2018 at the United States Library of Congress National Audio-Visual Conservation Center in Culpeper, VA, the organization has announced its preliminary program for the event.
Highlights will include AES Fellow and AES Gold Medal recipient Bob Ludwig presenting the keynote on “The Formats Of My Career (All Of Them Need Archiving!).” George Massenburg will head a panel on The Challenge of Archiving Multitrack Recordings with renowned producer Jack Douglas (John Lennon; Aerosmith), IASA President Toby Seay, Nathan Chandler from the University of Calgary, and Rob Friedrich from the Library of Congress.
Elsewhere, Federica Bressan, Antonio Roda and Roberta Bertani will discuss” The Impact of Thermal Treatment on Magnetic Tapes,” while Peter Alyea will take on “Using Imaging To Reevaluate Legacy Media Playback.”
Other key presentations will include “An Overview of Advancements in Magnetic Playback” by Jamie Howarth and John K. Chester, and Alexey Lukin exploring “Recent Advances in Noise Reduction: From Multiband Gates to Machine Learning.”
Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the Library of Congress Packard Campus of the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center and learn about the LOC’s audio archiving workflow.
Due to space limitations at the LOC’s Packard Campus, the conference can only accommodate 180 attendees, so the AES is encouraging attendees to register early to ensure admittance.
