Nashville, TN (November 30, 2017)—Carl Tatz Design (CTD) recently completed a PhantomFocus MixRoom in Ridgefield, CT, for Ed Boyer A Cappella.

Boyer, whose a cappella music projects encompass high school and collegiate groups, television, film and platinum-selling artists, contracted CTD to convert a spare room in his new home into one of the company's PhantomFocus MixRooms. Once some preparatory construction was completed per design, including electrical, lighting and HVAC, CTD's acoustic installation and PhantomFocus System implementation were achieved within a three-week time frame.

Neumann KH 310 monitors were integrated into the PhantomFocus System. “As a relatively new-school guy, I came up working in bedrooms with small speakers and headphones,” says Boyer. “I spent a lot of time and money trying to get my space closer to the enveloping sound I'd heard in commercial rooms. After upgrading monitors, buying bass traps, endlessly repositioning everything in the room, and so on, results were noticeable, but meager.

“Installing Carl's PhantomFocus MixRoom, though, was night-and-day. Everything finally sounds right. The difference is like making a recipe you found online versus hiring a world-renowned chef.”
