The audio studio expansion is part of a larger effort that will grow the workforce by more than 100 jobs.

Montréal, Canada (April 30, 2019)—Video game developer, publisher and distribution company Square Enix, headquartered in Japan, has announced that it is growing its workforce and expanding its facilities in Montréal, including the addition of a mixing and voice recording studio.

Square Enix, known for role-playing games such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, announced the creation of more than 100 game development jobs at its Montréal-based studios, Eidos-Montréal and Square Enix Montréal. The company is also financing the expansion and renovation of its Eidos-Montréal facility, adding 10,000 square feet to the 55,000 square-foot office space.

The studio expansion will reportedly include cutting-edge technologies such as full performance motion capture and photogrammetry studios and a user research laboratory, in addition to the new audio facilities. The company has also stated its intention to double the size of Square Enix Montréal over the course of 2019.

For the last decade, the development teams at Eidos-Montréal have orchestrated the successful reboot of the Deus Ex series, released the latest entry in the Thief franchise and have also played a key role in the development of the award-winning Tomb Raider series. The team at Square Enix Montréal, which was established in 2011, has created titles including Hitman Sniper, Hitman GO, Lara Croft GO and Deus Ex GO.
