Willisoundz Renovated

Willisoundz Studio recently underwent a renovation that included the installation of PhantomFocus System technology as well as Carl Tatz Acoustic Lens modules by Auralex.

Nashville, TN (June 4, 2013)—Willisoundz Studio recently underwent a renovation that included the installation of PhantomFocus System technology as well as Carl Tatz Acoustic Lens modules by Auralex. The renovation also included custom console furniture by Sound Construction & Supply and a 60-inch Samsung video monitor.

When studio owner/guitar session player John Willis is not playing around town for the likes of Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw and other top Nashville artists, he is working on any number of mainstream and independent acts as a producer/musician/engineer in his personal studio, Willisoundz. His studio production modus operandi has evolved into an approach that he controls from his “cockpit” array of recording and musical instrument gear.

During a recent Rode microphone shoot-out project at the studio with Grammy-nominated engineer/producer/educator John Merchant, who is also owner of the Carl Tatz Design studio Red Door as well as a Dual PFS user, Merchant suggested that Willis move up to the new 2013 PFS technology to drive his Dynaudio Air 20 monitors, although Willis already had earlier-generation PFS monitoring.

“When I first sat down to experience the new system, I was sick,” laments Willis. “It made everything so crystal-clear, 3D, and full-frequency range-accurate, I wanted to go back and remix everything I’ve ever done. Kudos to Carl and the new PhantomFocus System for continuing to make my little slice of home studio a world-class facility.”
