– Multi-award-winning a cappella guru Ed Boyer hires CTD to transform spare room into world-class mix facility in Ridgefield, Connecticut –
– Audio professionals are realizing they can have a mix room with unrivaled performance at an affordable price point with the installation of a CTD PhantomFocus™ MixRoom™ in their home or office –
Nashville, TN: CTD (Carl Tatz Design) recently completed one of its TEC Award-Winning PhantomFocus™ MixRooms™ for Ed Boyer A Cappella in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Ed Boyer is internationally recognized as a multiple award-winning engineer, producer, mixer and arranger in the exploding genre of a cappella music, which, in his case, encompasses high school and collegiate groups, television, film and platinum selling artists.
Boyer contracted CTD to convert a spare room in his new home into one of the company’s acclaimed PhantomFocus MixRooms. Once some preparatory construction was completed as per design, including electrical, lighting and HVAC, CTD’s acoustic installation and PhantomFocus System implementation was achieved within a three-week time frame.
A pair of Boyer’s Neumann KH 310 monitors was integrated into the PhantomFocus System, rendering its signature breathtaking performance. Boyer describes his PF MixRoom experience: “As a relatively new-school guy, I came up working in bedrooms with small speakers and headphones. I spent a lot of time and money trying to get my space closer to the enveloping sound I’d heard in commercial rooms. After upgrading monitors, buying bass traps, endlessly repositioning everything in the room, etc., results were noticeable, but meager. Installing Carl’s PhantomFocus MixRoom, though, was night-and-day. Everything finally sounds RIGHT. The difference is like making a recipe you found online vs. hiring a world-renowned chef.”
